Project BUCADE

PROJECT BUCADE

Project BUCADE was an exploratory project involving the Department of Psychology of Michigan State University (MSU) and the Department of History, Political Science and Development Studies of University of Dar Es Salaam (UDSM). The primary objective of this proposed partnership was to better position the University of Dar es Salaam to become a national and regional leader in educating development evaluation professionals and contribute to the emerging body of scholarship on evaluation practices that are well-suited to development evaluation in the African context. A secondary aim was to increase opportunities for MSU’s masters’ and certificate students to participate in development evaluation and improve our program’s capacity for educating African professionals to teach and practice development evaluation.
The main objectives of the project were:
  1. To identify the primary professional development needs of academic staff for capacity development in development evaluation and its instruction.
  2. To develop and pilot-test a capacity development workshop aimed at enhancing capacities of UDSM/DUCE academic staff to best deliver the Master of Arts in Development Evaluation (MADE) Programme.
  3. To lay the foundation for future partnership on evaluation training, student exchange, and research on development evaluation practice in Africa.
