Program Evaluation Services
My mission as a consultant is to contribute to the evaluation capacity of community-led HIV-focused organizations and human rights defenders. I also conduct evaluations of community-designed and led interventions to address the HIV epidemic. My services build on a four-decade career of conducting evaluations on community-based and structural interventions across the continuum of HIV prevention, testing, and treatment. I have expertise in interventions for sexual minority youth and young adults of color and efforts to protect their health, foster their well being, and ensure their human rights. I assist community-led organizations to identify programs and practices that help people reduce their risk of exposure to HIV and improve their access to HIV testing and affirming medical care. I also work with organizations to help identify effective strategies to reduce stigma and discrimination and facilitate access to HIV-related care and services.
I am an expert in program evaluation and community-collaborative action research. My formal training is as a community psychologist, with a specialization in quantitative methods. I am trained in qualitative and mixed-methods too. I have applied my expertise in many settings but have devoted most of my career to evaluation and research on LGBTQ community-designed and led programs and advocacy efforts related to HIV, sexual and reproductive health, and human rights. I have also evaluated programs intended to serve other people who are most vulnerable to HIV exposure, including ex-offenders, Black girls and young women, and male sex workers.
My approach to systematic inquiry and knowledge generation is community-centered, community-engaged, equity-focused, scientifically rigorous, and fosters learning and growth. I disseminate evidence that recognizes community strengths, agency, and aspirations.
